Bragging Writes

June 22 was a busy triathlon weekend. Chris Gurtcheff completed his first Ironman at Coeur d'Alene. His time was 12hr 24. Great job, Chris. He swam a note worthy 1 hr 01 for the 2.4 mile swim, and backed that up with a swift bike and solid run. Very impressive.

Also, more locally, John Kehoe, Mitchell Wolff, and Jenny Zhang raced in the Philadelphia Olympic Triathlon.

Their finish times were 3 hr 13, 3 hr 10, and 3 hr 10 respectively. Congratulations.

Congratulations to Clay Rotar. The fifteen year old finished the Black Bear Sprint Triathlon 11th overall, and 1st in his age group. Fantastic, Clay. Keep up the great work!

Warren Hollinger did it again. He qualified for the 2008 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon Championship. His qualification came from a stellar finish at the Honu 70.3 Triathlon on May 31st where he chopped off 30 minutes from his time of last year. He finished in 6 hr 09 in what were very harsh wind conditions. And Warren won't cap off the year with Ironman. Instead, he's already signed up for the Ultra Man Triathlon in November! Congratulations, Warren.

Spring is just around the corner, and so is the 2008 race season. Many of us are in the process of preparing a training and racing plan for the new year. Some have already chosen one or more "A" races and begun base training. Others are looking over the 2008 TRI-IT-ALL Race Calendar and putting together their race plans. Before you know it, the gun will be going off for the start of your first race.

Whatever your goals are for 2008, we want to hear about them and share your successes with others. So keep an eye on the TRI-IT-ALL web page. I expect to print lots of Bragging "Writes" and photos of as the year unfolds. Who knows ... maybe your photo will show up in 2008.

Notable accomplishments from last year included: Charlie Windus who was named as one of the top ten All-American Triathletes Male 60-64 for 2007. John Kehoe who completed the Florida Ironman Triathlon in Panama City Beach Florida. Warren Hollinger of Kailua-Kona, who completed his first Ironman at the World Championship in Hawaii, having qualified at Honu 70.3.

Meanwhile, here are some race photos from previous years.
Train smart. Race well. And visit our website often.
